Halloween

This year halloween was quite boring and uneventful. I worked from 3-8 and got home and did nothing.... Well usually i go to a simple party, maybe a haunted house, nothing extravagent. It think halloween is a strange holiday, being the one day of the year it is not only excepted but promoted to scare people. It often is fun to dress up as something/someone else and be with friends/family. I think the drop in trick-or-treaters is that the general culture sees it as something old people nowadays go to parties or do "other" activities.

Controversy

The Two sides of the assisted suicide issue is whether or not it should be legalized. current assisted suicid laws generally say that if a patient of sound mind is terminally ill, they have the right to choose to die or not.
The side against the legalization of assisted suicides have several reasons against it: one that the laws will be expanded to include other people who are not "terminally ill". It could become a way to contain health care costs. could possibly become non-voluntary. and the basic moral argument of a disreguard for human life.
On the opposite side people who are for assisted suicide give reasons for its legalization. The big one of unbearable pain is often the main point for it. Then comes the right for someone to commit suicide. and lastly that people should not be forced to be kept alive.

Mrs. Micikas

I really liked her recount of her journey through life and faith. Giving that recount must have been difficult, getting up in front of group of high schoolers. I found it very comforting to hear a story of how someone so far away from God could have come full circle back to him. I have even at some times felt not wanting to believe that there is a God hoping that there was nothing else there, b/c life would become much more simple and easier see, But i can't i have my faith ingrained in me and it's just not going anywhere

Voysey

I thought that i would have benefited a little more knowing what the play was about before seeing it. I however thought it was a good play overall. it did however take a certain discipline to be able to sit and pay attention to the whole thing. Cause the it was a little boring and non-action like most movies nowadays. At first itwas a little hard to follow what was going on cause of the large number of characters in the beginning and haveing to differentiate them all and keep up with the plot.
I thought that the play has as much revelance today as it did nearly 100 years ago. Our money system still works pretty much the same, and people still use the same old scams, however much more elaborate.

Homecoming

Homecoming...well i thinks its not much more than a social gathering, but i guess it does have a decent purpose. taking the name literally its for the students to get together for a social gathering and get to know each other better. however i doubt that that many people will try to reach out and try to meet someone new. By the time the event actually happens most people know everyone anyway. It still is imho a fun event to go to.

Movie Review

Serogates

The Movie Serogates has a rather obvious worldview(WV) of hedonism. The main story of the movie is that over the course of many years technology advanced so that almost the entire world had these devises serogates or avatars in a sense. The idea was that with the serogates one could live life to the fullest without any harm, danger, or consequenses Feeling everything the serogates feel and see. All through the movie we see people going through life without ever leaving there homes. Many scenes protray people have fun at parties, drinking, have sex, and even "shocking" is a version of getting high off a jolt of electricity. All throughout you see the population going to work then going to a party, a night on the town. There was even a shop designed to change the appearence of ones serogate, to have the perfect body, with no effects of age, disease, or injury.
While the usefullness of the serogates was great the people who used them became sickly, pale, larthargic, and afraid of the outside world without their serogates. The people themselves were in a way dying.
